(Entry No.22)

Horror through the night

    I was suddenly awakened by the power going out at 2:04am. I have a battery backup on my computer so I got to look at what the hurricane was doing and I saw on the diagram that it was coming this way and had been promoted to a category 5 hurricane. I sat in shock wondering what the crap was going to happen next. I turned the computer off and couldn’t go back to sleep. I could hear the winds as the hurricane was coming. 2:31am: The hurricane’s winds have picked up and things are getting worse because as of now anything could happen. 3:01am: The hurricane has to be here now, the winds are so strong that they seem to shake the house. I keep hearing trees outside cracking and so far I haven’t heard any break yet which is a good sign. I don’t know if flooding……..what is that sound?.........It sounds like something bad is coming like a plane or something, but what would a plane be doing in a hurricane? The sound is getting louder. OH CRAP!!! 3:06am: Well, that was not good. A, what sounded like a helicopter, just passed the house, but it sounded and felt like it was right on top of the house. The whole house started shaking and getting worse, things were falling off my desk and hitting the ground. The helicopter passed the top of the house and water sounded like it hit the house like bullets, then the sound of the helicopter faded away. 4:21am: I think a transformer blew. It sure was not a fun experience since it lit up all of outside and made a big boom when it did blow. 4:32am: I believe a tree fell in front of my bedroom window. I heard it cracking right outside and was hoping that it wouldn’t hit the house, but instead it just fell right beside the house. I heard it scratch against the window when it did fall so that’s how I knew it fell close to the house. For the past 2 hours it’s been like a war zone, with a helicopter, blasts, trees falling, and the wind. I’m quite surprised that nobody in the house is up and moving around. I couldn’t sleep the whole night. It’s now 5:34 in the morning and apparently the cell phone towers must have fell or the power went out to them because I can’t send any messages with my cell phone.
